Spring in the vegie garden is super exciting, but it can also be overwhelming – where to start?!
Do your best not to worry over every little weed, just focus on the ones that are dominating your crops and your vegie growing spaces. Manage them in the easiest of ways, by dolloping mulch on top – rotten hay is so fab at this, or if the weeds are determined and bolshy – lay black plastic on top.
If you are a beginner or squeezed for garden time, stick to crops that provide alot of abundance for a small amount of effort: grow heaps of herbs, a big variety of leafy greens, celery and good old potatoes. Basic these may be, but I’d happily live off them!
Please don’t use instagram perfect pictures of baskets that overflow with produce, as your yardstick. A simple but wholesome collection of foraged greens for dinner is the best. What you grow, and how you grow it, is perfectly perfect. Stay real, friends, and most of all, enjoy your patch as it is!
Yours in the earth,

How to prevent pests from potato plants?
I cover them with insect mesh on plantings from October onwards to prevent the psyllids getting to the crop.
