Fudgy and oh so tasty. We be lovin these sweet somethings from My New Roots.
2cups almond meal or flour **
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground star anise
¼ tsp ground cardamon
½ tsp sea salt
pinch black pepper
½ cup maple syrup
¾ cup runny tahini
2 tsp vanilla
zest of 1 orange
Preheat oven to 170°C
Whisk together almond meal and spices
In another bowl whisk tahini, vanilla, maple syrup and orange zest together. If your tahini is stodgy, this mixture will be too thick – it needs to be pourable. Warm it gently to get it there.
Mix wet and dry together to make a thick dough.
To make the bickies, roll a tablespoon of dough into a ball, flatten slightly and lay on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and lightly press the salt in.
Bake for 10 – 12 minutes until the bottom is golden.
Leave to cool on the tray.
** The original recipe stipulates almond flour, not meal. I prefer to buy the Aussie grown almonds and can only get those as meal, but these bickies are mighty fine all the same.
